“Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.” Psalm 32:1
Scripture Focus: Psalm 32
I have a hang-up with writing. I cannot even begin until everything is just right: Den situated, desk laid out, emails checked, coffee cup filled. Then “Ahhh, peace!” And I am ready to start. Maybe for you the dishwasher must be empty, the Diet Coke in the fridge, the morning workout completed, and then you can take on the day.
Unfortunately, the “ahhh” moments we’ve won for ourselves pass away. Yet in reality, peace is available to us every minute of every day for the rest of our lives because we’ve been forgiven by God through Jesus. With Jesus Christ on the throne of our lives, there is no moment when we are outside the saving grace of God. Paul tells us in Romans, “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (8:1).
This true peace is available. One day we’ll be welcomed into heaven not because we made anything perfect and got it all in order. It will be because Jesus went to great lengths on our behalf to live a perfect life and die a perfect death for our sins on the cross.
Insight: Rejoice in your everlasting “ahhh” moment. For the Lord is good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon Him (see Psalm 86:5).
